Le test consiste à couper un câble en acier de 3 mm de diamètre. Ont été convoqués les multioutils suivants : – LEATHERMAN Charge XTi, – GERBER Suspension, – SOG PowerAssist, – VICTORINOX SwissTool. Le Gerber Suspension est incapable de couper le câble (coupe-câble non marqué). Le Leatherman Charge XTi présente une pince dont les mords se décalent d’une façon inquiétante et se bloquent fortement; il se montre incapable de couper le câble (coupe-câble non marqué). Le Victorinox SwissTool présente une pince dont les mords se décalent un peu mais se bloquent pas, il parvient à couper le câble (coupe-câble non marqué). Le SOG PowerAssist réussit correctement le test (coupe-câble marqué). Grosse déception donc s’agissant du Leatherman Charge et agréable surprise concernant le SOG PowerAssist. Néanmoins, le coupe-câble de ce dernier se trouve marqué et une petite rectification à la lime s’impose suite à ce test limite qu’il convient de ne pas répéter. Le SOG PowerAssist doit sa puissance de coupe, donc de serrage, à la démultiplication amenée par les engrenages de la pince.
