Question by Crispus E. Shays: What do you think of Swiss Army Knives?
I’ve always thought that they were toys but i checked with the knife laws in NYC and they’re pretty much the only legal knife so I got the Swiss Army Soldier Knife from 2009. Its the closest thing to a Ka Bar that I can have in NYC.
Bono Irish- Oh, I was just used to carrying single bladed knives so Ifigured the KaBar would do the trick. But after reading about the Dual Pro X and the Soldier Knife, I was impressed so I got them. I would like a corkcrew but I don’t drink so the screwdriver is much more handy.
Bear- You’re right. They might not be fancy, but it will serve me well in college. Why should I bring an entire tool chest when I can just bring one Victorinox?
…Hmm that should be an advertising slogan lol.

Answer by Bear Unless you’re ta thug or “wannabe” gangster, the Swiss Army pocket knife is the greatest knife anyone could own. I know it’s rather sappy, but in my family, giving the Swiss Army knife as a gift is something that we look forward to as kids. They are the best knives because:
1. They’re Legal: While you will most likely never be called out on the knife that you carry, there is a certain satisfaction with knowing that the one you have is not only supported but encouraged by the local police. Think about it, the Swiss Army knife comes with everything and that’s one less call the police need to receive.
2. They’re Durable: I’m 23-years-old and I got my first and only one when I was 13. That’s a solid 10 years and there is literally no wear and tear on them. The hinges are all tight and there is not a spot of rust on it. The blades are all still razor sharp and none of the metal has been bent or destroyed.
3. They Contain Everything: There has never been a chore where I have wanted another tool on my knife. Sure, it’d be nice to have a bit bigger screwdriver to get more leverage but I have always been able to get the job done.
Go with the Swiss Army knife and never lose it. It will treat you well the rest of your life.

I know it’s qutie a bit to look at, but it’s a gift for my boyfriend who’s always wanted one. He plans on joining the Army next year and wanted one with an LED light, but I have no idea which to pick out? It’s just something he would like to carry around.
Are some too bulky? Which one would be more useful to him?
