Some of my historic American knuckle knives used by true heroes during WWII. Top row shows several examples of the US1918 Mark I brass knuckle trench knife made towards the end of WWI and reissued in WWII. These were made for the US Army in 1918 both in France and the US. Original French made examples have blades marked “Au Lion” and original US made examples have no blade markings and just a small makers mark on the handle under the “US 1918″ marking. There are a lot of fakes out there and you must be very careful if you decide to buy these knives. Some of the other knives were private purchase, or hand made for the war effort in limited numbers by both military and civilians alike. Also shown are two pictures taken during the war showing American fighters with their knuckle knives. The first one is supposedly a father and son in the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, they both have Thompson sub machine guns, French made US1918 Mark I trench knives, and machetes. The last picture shows a US Marine with his knuckle knife and a Thompson SMG on his back. The Springfield Armory M1 Garand was made in January, 1941.
